Long Arc Films

Documentary-style video, three ways.

Long Arc Films is my own channel — long-form, narrative-driven films on geopolitics, Roman history and Irish history. Every episode is researched, scripted, illustrated, narrated and rendered end to end with a pipeline I wrote myself.

The three strands

Strand 01 · Geopolitics

The world, in real time

Films on how power actually moves — energy, trade, currency and force. Each one starts from a moment in the news and pulls on the thread until the structure underneath shows.

Subjects have included the re-pricing of the Gulf's security bargain, the Arctic as a quiet frontier, the BRICS push to rewrite the rules of trade and money, and the economics of sanctions and shipping lanes.

How the empire nearly ended

Long-form history of Rome's turning points — told through the people who were there, and the structural pressures that made their choices unavoidable.

The flagship film, The Crisis of the Third Century, covers AD 235–284: fifty years in which at least twenty-six men claimed the throne and the frontiers buckled on every side.

Ború — the high king and the end of an order

Ireland's history told at the scale it deserves — kings, dynasties, invasion and the slow collision of two worlds, dramatised with original illustration and archival source work.

The film follows Brian Ború and the Battle of Clontarf (1014) — the moment a single high king nearly unified Ireland.
